Gugulethu Sophie Mbatha - better known as Gugu - is a British stage actress and film actor. Gugu gained notoriety after appearing on the BBC's Doctor Who', a British science fiction television series. Gugu gained fame for her role as Tish Jones. Tish Jones was the character's sister. Handler was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989, and passed away after fighting cancer for the past ten years. Handler was born into a Reform Judaism family. Her father was Jewish. Handler lived in a safe area and was a very happy child. In her early twenties, Handler relocated into Los Angeles in order to explore acting. Handler started acting for money. Handler, who was then at the age of 21 was able to concentrate on stand-up comics full time following her discovery of storytelling. At the beginning of her career Handler started out her career as a member of the Oxygen network all-female cast for the hidden camera/comedy reality TV series Girls Behaving Badly. It aired from 2002 to 2005. The host then appeared in several other shows like Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler appeared on The Tonight Show for a while as a correspondent. Handler was given her first major break when she hosted her E! Show in 2006. called The Chelsea Handler Show.
